Two and a half years ago, we opened the doors of Barbaros Hanoi with a simple idea: bring real smoked BBQ, exceptional craft beer, and genuine hospitality to the heart of Tay Ho. What followed exceeded everything we imagined — a community of regulars, diplomatic events, an exclusive Duvel draft partnership, weekend brunches, embassy catering, and a brand that people recognized and trusted far beyond Hanoi’s expatriate community.

From day one, Barbaros was built differently. A smoked BBQ program unlike anything else in the city. A craft beer concept anchored by an exclusive Duvel draft partnership, plus an amazing variety of beers from other great brands. A brunch experience that became a weekend ritual. Recurring events for the diplomatic community — embassies of Peru, Mexico, Chile, El Salvador, and beyond. A brand presence across web, social media, and delivery platforms that set a new standard for the neighborhood. The numbers reflected it: consistent revenue growth, a loyal international and local clientele, and a concept that kept evolving and improving with every passing month.

Despedida Barbaros

Now, with that foundation firmly established, the Barbaros Group founding team makes a deliberate decision: to step back from the Hanoi flagship, take stock of everything learned, refined, and proven over 30 months of real operations, and channel it into what comes next.

In April 2026, we closed this chapter of Barbaros Hanoi. Not because the concept failed — far from it. But because the right next step for Barbaros is not to maintain. It is to grow. And growth, done properly, requires stepping back, reassessing, and rebuilding on stronger foundations, with the right partners and the right structure from day one.

The focus for the remainder of 2026 is exactly that — preparation. Finding the right partners, defining the right model, and identifying the right location to relaunch Barbaros at the level it deserves. Whether that means returning to Hanoi, expanding to another Vietnamese city, or taking the concept to a new market entirely, one thing is clear: Barbaros is not stepping back. It is taking a run-up.

To every customer, supplier, collaborator, and team member who was part of this first chapter — thank you. You made it worth building. The next one will be worth the wait.
